Saunas are a standard in all Spa Hotels, and even some hotels that do not focus on spa offer this opportunity for healthy relaxation and recuperation. The spectrum of “heated rooms” is wide, the main difference being in terms of temperature and humidity. Certain Romantik hotels offer “new” options to sweat to match the unpleasant time of the year.
The new exterior sauna at the Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels in St. Goar is designed in the style of a historical “Rhine wash house” and complements what the “AusZeit” spa area has to offer. Through the glass front of the 17 square metre wooden sauna, perspiring guests have an unparalleled view of the Rhine Valley below the hotel. “In common with most of the facilities at Schloss Rheinfels, the ‘Rhine wash house’ was made exclusively to our own plans and ideas,” explains owner and manager Gerd Ripp. “Under the tagline ‘Spa à la region’, only regional craftsmen were hired and the hand-painted works on the inside of the sauna were also painted by a local artist.” The “Rhine wash house” is open all year-round, is just a few metres from the entrance to the spa area and offers quite exceptional sauna indulgence especially in the snow and ice.
The Romantik Hotel BollAnt’s im Park in Bad Sobernheim also has an external sauna. At the “Hubertus Exterior Sauna” you can sweat it out, feed deer and enjoy the panoramic views over the vineyards of the Naheland. The sauna complex, named after the patron saint of hunters, is situated directly by a game reserve at the edge of the Soonwald forest. Treat the animals to a few chestnuts through the feeding tube, spend some time with them, and you’ll be able to observe the residents of the forest close-up. A visit to the sauna is the perfect complement to a stay at the hotel’s so-called ‘Heimat Lodge’; these private refuges, built in a cosy chalet style, are equally about a special natural experience and undisturbed peace.
The saunas at the Romantik Hotel Boeglerhof in Alpbach have been newly renovated and therefore appear in all their fresh glory. Block out the everyday and delve into a world of well-being. Choose between a Finnish wood sauna in the garden, an aromatic steam bath, sole steam bath, a herbal sauna and infrared cabin – then recharge your batteries at the inviting fruit and juice bar.
You will find further information about “opportunities to sweat it out” in Romantik Spa Hotels – as well as less sweat-inducing options – in the new Wellness Brochure 2011. Order it free of charge here.
